What's in the Name?

Here is a short interview with the creator and owner of Angelic Melody Productions- Jessica Joyce.

Favefive: Why Angelic Melody
Productions? How did you come about that name?

Jessica Joyce: First of all, I like angels and I like music. And so when I saw this picture on the internet, showing an anime picture of a girl playing the violin, and she is an angel.

FF: So, this angelic anime picture was engraved in your mind?

JJ: Yes, I thought about the picture for a while and I came up with a name. Since I love music very deeply and , (giggles), uhhh, I like the sound of angel's playing it, the idea came up. Then, on my windows movie maker I typed in the words ANGELIC MELODY PRODUCTIONS.

FF: Do you have a copy of this picture so I can look at it?

JJ: No, I do not, but I can try finding it on the internet now. (Starts googling)...Found it, the first entry! Want me to send it to you mom?

FF: Sure...send it to my yahoo email.

JJ: Sending check your email.

FF: Wow...it is a very beautiful picture. I will load it up on this blog. I'd like to credit who owns the picture- angeltakesflight07. (Note: the picture on top next to the title of this blog).

JJ: Yes...it is pretty. So, I found it and it has inspired me ever since.

FF: So, what is your vision for this production company? Now that you have a name and I will help you with the business processes. What is your plan?

JJ: Hmmm...well it was established 2 years ago because I love making music videos a lot. Those "Final Fantasy", anime slide shows or just anything I like. Hmmm...also with the idea of making videos I also started making stories of fan fiction, like you create your own story of the things you like, your own story in the game that you like. Uhm, pretty much the production is about movie making, story writing, animation and music...and you put it all together.

FF: Okay, will your experience at Video 3-D Animation and Game Creation that you had in Summer of 2006 held at Stanford University when you created a game of dragons, help in your venture?

JJ: Of course it will. The Stanford experience actually made me want to continue with the productions so, up to now it has flourished well. I only have a small fan base, but I am just starting out.

FF: Okay...Uhm so what projects have you completed so far, having Angelic Melody Productions in place for 2 years now?

JJ: Well my first fan fiction that was created 2 years ago is called "Wings of Faith", it is a fan fiction from Final Fantasy Advent Children. It is about forgiveness and always protecting the ones you love. I created 2 characters, uhm, with my friend and I started the story and she was actually the first one I sent it to.

FF: Is this the one that you and your friend would exchange through emails and she will write her portion and you write yours?

JJ: Actually no. In 2006, for a year, I have been writing my own stories, then in 2007 she began making her own. Then we used our own characters and we did our own portions of stories, like, we would plan it out and we would do either chapter 1 or 2, so it is like back and forth, until we finish a series.

FF: That is a good idea of collaborating with your friend. It keeps you both creative and make use of your time in a positive way.

JJ: Oh yes, we love doing it ...a lot! And so this other project I starred one of my favorite Asian actor. So... I starred the Korean pop singer, BoA Kwon, as the lead female and Suh Do-Young, a Korean actor as the lead male character. Se7en (pronounced as seven), a Korean pop male singer and Brian Joo from the Korean boy band Fly to the Sky. In the story there is a love triangle, past secrets, hmmm...drama, and..hmmm (giggles)...this part is hard to describe---being with your true love forever. That is cheesy though (laughs). But the story got a lot of good reviews from my friends, even though it took a long time to complete. The story is called "The Story Behind Our Song". It needs some editing though, even though it has been finished for a year now. I'll get to it soon so I can post it online.

FF: You have, uhmm, a CD that you have recorded just recently. You named the CD "Remembrances". It has 9 piano solo pieces which you played and the last one you sang "Come Home" which was originally recorded by One Republic's Ryan Teder. This CD, which you had made as gifts to family, friends and relatives, has received great reviews from the recipients requesting you to make another one with more vocals. Is it part of this production?

JJ: Yes...even though Angelic Melody Productions was not named on the credits, but yes it was and still is part of the whole project.

FF: Okay...seems you have a lot of things going on. What is your next or upcoming project?

JJ: Uhmm, it is either I am gonna create this sad Asian drama, starring another few of my favorite stars or an Anime comedy about...hmmm...going through life, friendships, and love relationships. I am also working on another CD, to be recorded and released early next year. Like what most recipients of my first CD had requested, this CD will have more songs or vocals than piano pieces. I have been rehearsing almost on a daily basis to get ready for it. I am sure people who will receive their copy will be pleased...they will not be disappointed.

FF: Excellent! I too can't wait. Any other projects worth noting about?

JJ: Well, I am going to teach piano for free to kids from our church. I would like to do this in cooperation with the CWS Organization in Antioch. As soon as we submit our transfer I will tell Sis. Marleigh, the CWS President. I am calling this project "Music and Kids". Hopefully I can inspire the kids to be musically inclined with this project. It is just that we have been in this incomplete move, that living in between two places has kept me from starting that yet...but I intend to start soon. I am scheduling it every other Saturday here in our home. Since I do my archery practice at Stanford University on Saturdays, I am willing to cut down on archery practice just for this effort. Either way, I am so thrilled about this project. It's sort of my way of giving back. It will also give the kids something productive to do during summer. Another project I would like to start in our new neighborhood is the "Project Green Living", it is all about how we, as a neighborhood, can help prevent global warming...and help save our environment for the future generations to enjoy. I am also taking online summer classes for 3-D Animation and Game Creation, much like the one in Stanford but only more advanced in level.

FF: Well, I cannot wait to see all of your projects come into fruition. Since it is summer and you will be busy next school year with tons of activities in High School, starting in August...hopefully you can make this summer a productive one. Good Luck!

JJ: Oh yeah! Thank you.
